Since the nutritionist and dietician has closely worked with Deepika Padukone, we asked what all does her diet plan includes.

What Is Pitta Dosha?

One of the three doshas, Pitta dosha is known to govern the metabolic rate of the body. It majorly controls how our body digests food. Pitta is a combination of fire and water elements. Some common symptoms of excess accumulation of Pitta in the body are - 

  • Body odour

  • Excessive sweating
  • Acidity
  • Indigestion
  • Excess generation of heat in the body
  • Nausea
  • Constipation

Ash gourd or winter melon is known for its medicinal properties. It holds a very special place in Ayurveda because it supports the digestive system and immune system. It falls under the list of Sattvik foods in Ayurveda. 

Ash gourd is effective in treating pitta imbalance in the body. The fruit has a cooling effect on the body which helps treat the Pitta imbalance. Consuming ash gourd juice helps control the excessive heat in the body which leads to issues like inflammation and dryness. 

Not only does winter melon helps treat the Pitta imbalance, but it also has many other health benefits. 

Ash Gourd Prevents Digestive Issues

According to a lot of studies, ash gourd supports the digestive system. It has an anti-diarrheal effect. Also, it works as a protective layer against ulcers because it is loaded with antioxidants. Consuming ash gourd helps free your intestinal walls from free radicals.

How To Make Ash Gourd Juice?

Preparing ash gourd juice at home is quite easy. The fruit tastes a lot like cucumber. 

1. Wash and peel ash gourd. 

2. Cut into small pieces. 

3. Add winter melon cubes to a blender. 

4. Remove seeds from the winter melon beforehand as it will be difficult to take them all out after juicing it.

5. Strain the juice. 

6. Add 1 tsp of lemon juice, some freshly chopped mint leaves, black salt as per taste, and ground black pepper. Mix well and drink up.

This juice should be consumed right after preparation or the same day. It is a good idea to drink it in the morning as it helps flush out toxins and keeps you energetic all day long.
