The auspicious Navratri festival has begun and the devotees are very excited about it.  They dedicate these nine days to worshipping Goddess Durga in her nine different forms.

While fasting is done for all the great reasons, it can be very tiring. So, we have compiled a list of tips that can make fasting easier as well as healthier for you.

1. Include Vegetables And Fruits In Diet

Include a lot of fruits and vegetables in your fasting diet while avoiding Fried Snacks.  Fruits and vegetables are high in nutrients that can keep the body energized for more hours during fasting period. They are filling and keep you away from indulging more often in food . You can prepare fruit chaat, salads or soups.

It's important to stay hydrated while fasting, as dehydration can cause fatigue and even fainting. While you can cut down on food, you must ensure that you do not dehydrate yourself. Always keep a bottle of water with yourself and keep sipping timely. Water, low-fat milk, and vegetable and fruit juices are other ways that will keep you hydrated and will maintain an adequate level of body fluids and salt.

3. Avoid Starving

Avoid fasting for too long and even during fasting, keep eating small snacks in short intervals of time. Prolonged fasting may lead to weakness, anaemia, fatigue and headaches. Consuming nuts and makhanas are amazing ideas for this.

4. Catch Good Sleep

While you are fasting, it is essential to have a good hours of sleep to avoid dizziness and throbbing headaches. Ensure that you take proper 7-8 hours of sleep everyday.

5. Avoid Eating Too Much

Even if you're eating vrat foods, don't eat too much. Break your meals up into small portions and eat them 5-6 times a day instead. This way, you'll keep supplying your body with energy while also avoiding the feelings of fullness that comes with a heavy meal.

6. Maintain Your Energy Level

It's common to experience a lack of energy during Navratri fasting. You need to  eat right and drink from time to time to avoid that. Include foods that are rich in protein and carbs to maintain your energy levels.

7. Plan Your Meal

A sudden change in your diet can have a negative impact on your body and mind, so it's essential to plan your meals ahead of time. Make sure you eat a significant meal before sunset that is made with grains and minimal oil. 

Maintaining your energy levels and staying healthy can be as simple as planning your meals and snacking healthily.
