It is a dream for every bride to look flawless on her big day. She wants to look beautiful and have glowing skin. Sometimes, pre-existing health conditions like PCOD which can cause an imbalance in hormones can cause acne, chronic constipation, or environmental or external factors like unhygienic conditions, humid weather, dust or pollution can cause acne. Acne can cause spots and pimples, especially on the face, shoulders, back, neck, chest, and upper arms. Acne is of many types- whiteheads, blackheads, pimples, cysts, and nodules. For this investigation, you need to consult a dermatologist but there are some lifestyle changes that can help you avoid acne and can also help in reducing scars.
Snack on Purple
Purple coloured foods like plums, beetroot, phalsa, shehtoot, jamun, purple cabbage, purple carrots, blueberries are rich sources of vitamin A and vitamin E and Zinc. These purple fruits and vegetables are anti-inflammatories and are rich in antioxidants and help in reducing acne and acne scars. Our skin regenerates every 27 days, so if you are heading for a big day soon, start consuming purple-colored fruits. It should be noted that jamun juice or any juice which comes from tetra packs have preservatives and aren’t fresh so they should be excluded in the diet.
Raw Potato Juice With Coriander
Potatoes are rich in potassium and are a source for sulphur, phosphorous, and chlorine and are only found in a raw potato and not in boiled or fried potato. Drinking potato juice of 1 raw potato and mixing just about 1⁄4 cup of fresh coriander juice will help in reducing the scar. You can also apply this juice to the affected area and you will see less scarring or reduction in acne within 30 days. It should be noted that potato should be raw potato only. Coriander juice flushes toxins out of our body and also works as anti-diuretic agent and reduces constipation which can cause acne.
Remove Processed Carbohydrates Immediately
Processed carbohydrates like refined sugar, white flour – maida, white bread, candies, sugar coasted chocolates, processed soft drinks cause an imbalance in endocrine hormones and is a leading cause of PCOD/ PCOS in women. In PCOS, women experience open pores, these open pores are prone to acne. So, it is essential to reduce these pores by balancing hormones. Eat multigrain or mixed grains instead of white and processed meals. Swap refined sugars with jaggery or natural sweeteners like stevia.
Expert's Acne Skin Tea Recipe
Boil 1 teaspoon coriander seeds, 1 teaspoon cumin seed, 1 teaspoon fennel seed in 300 ml of water. Strain and sip through this tea. This tea reduces pitta or agni inside the body along with a balanced diet. This tea helps in removing acne scars and improving gut health and balancing our doshas.
Drinking plenty of fluids like water, fresh vegetable juices, green tea, and herbal teas eliminate toxins out of the body. On an average, if a person weighs 60 kgs need about 2 liters of water a day and extra fluids from green teas and herbal teas. It is to be noted that this doesn’t include alcohol and black coffee. Alcohol and coffee can dehydrate you. So, it should not be included in the hydration plan. If you drink black coffee, supplement it with 2 glasses of water to avoid dehydration from caffeine. The trick to hydrate is to drink in sips and not gallop the entire bottle at once.
It is very important to clean your colon to remove constipation. If you have toxins build in your gut, it will trigger acne. Take 1 teaspoon amla powder before bed with a cup of warm water. And when you wake up drink a glass of fresh aloe vera juice. Take 1 teaspoon fresh aloe vera pulp and mix it with water. You can add this pulp to potato juice or any other vegetable juice if not early in the morning.
Face Packs and Gharelu Nuske
Apply chickpea flour pack once a week. To make this pack, take 1 tablespoon chickpea flour and mix it with yoghurt and turmeric and apply on your face. Leave it for 15 minutes and wash your face. After facewash make sure you apply a rose water toner to close your pores and apply an oil free moisturizer. Sometimes, dermatologists recommend not using moisturizer on acne-prone skin. Before bed apply a thin paste of sandalwood powder mixed with rose water on your acne. Sandalwood is antiseptic and antibacterial; it helps in reducing both scars and acne.
Exercise, deep breathing, pranayam and sound sleep also are effective in reducing acne and scarring because we repair our body when we deep breath and when we sleep we remove toxins.
