Actor Mona Singh recently in an interview shared that she and her husband Shyam Gopalan are in no hurry to have a baby. Talking about the same, she shared that she got her eggs frozen when she was 34 years old. 

She shared, “I have frozen my eggs and now I am free. I did that at the age of 34. Because I have gotten married now, I want to chill with my partner and travel the world with him. I haven’t done that yet. I have always travelled with my family or friends. I want to do that with my husband now. Even though I love kids, if you ask me now, I am not mentally prepared to have one. Later in life, I would definitely think about it.”

Is The Egg Freezing Procedure Risky?

The egg freezing procedure involves the women getting a couple of hormone injections which stimulate the ovaries to produce multiple eggs. It involves the woman visiting the fertility clinic for about 5 sessions where the ovaries are regularly checked through a vaginal ultrasound. After a week or two, the eggs are retrieved. The egg retrieval takes about 10 minutes which is done after giving anesthesia to the woman. A needle is punctured into the vaginal wall which has a suction device at the other end and it removes the egg from the ovarian follicles. 

There are chances that you may get pregnant during this time as there can be eggs in your ovaries which didn't get retrieved.
