Mint is not only known for adding a refreshing taste to your dishes, but it is also known for its medicinal properties. For years, mint has been used to treat different health and skin problems.
One thing about mint leaves is that they don't stay fresh for too long. Even when you store mint leaves in the refrigerator, they won't stay that fresh. Nothing can beat the flavour of the freshly plucked or purchased mint. However, for easy use, it is best to keep a stack of mint at home.

The easiest way of storing mint and keeping the flavour fresh is by storing it in water. Take a big jar or a glass container, depending on the quantity of mint purchased. Cut the bottom of the stem. Fill some water in the container and then place mint sprigs in it. You can cover it with a wet cloth or a plastic bag and then keep in your refrigerator. This will help you keep your mint fresh for a couple of weeks.
Another great way of storing mint is by wrapping the mint sprigs in a damp paper towel. Wrap mint in the towel and then pack in a plastic bag. Now place this bag in the refrigerator. Your mint will last for up to 2 weeks.
Mint can be stored as ice cubes too. Mint cubes can be easily added to chutneys, sauces, and soups. Mint retains the fresh flavour for many months if it is stored this way. To make these cubes, wash and chop mint properly. Take your tray and then fill chopped mint in the tray along with water.
If you wish to use pudina or mint all through the year in a dry form then this is an easy method of storing them. Buy fresh mint leaves and then wash them. Take a paper towel and then wrap these leaves in it. Place this towel under sunlight for a couple of days. Don't directly place pudina leaves under sunlight. When the mint leaves dry completely, blend them to make a powder. This powder can be sprinkled in your different curries, salads, and raitas.
