While we are all practicing social distancing, trying to keep coronavirus at bay, we can't ignore how stressful it is getting. One great way to manage all the stress is by digging into some delicious desserts. We can't head to our favourite bakery or order a sweet treat at home, so, why not wear the chef's hat yourself? If you have been craving your favourite desserts then make them at home and add some sweetness to the dull and boring quarantine period.

Not many of us are into fancy cooking so here are some easy to make dessert recipes that are ready quickly and can be prepared at home without using any fancy ingredients. Let's now quickly dive into some easy, sweet recipes.

1. Gluten-Free, 3-Ingredient Muffins

Following a strict diet during quarantine? But what about those sugar cravings? Satiate them with these gluten-free muffins. Chef Ritika Gupta has shared this 3 ingredient muffin recipe with us and she says these taste amazing!

You need:

  • 2 ripe bananas
  • 3 tbs nut butter
  • 1 tbs cocoa powder / fresh fruits / roasted nuts

Directions:

In a bowl, add bananas and mash them. Add some nut butter, can be peanut or almond butter. Add cocoa powder and mix again. Take muffin cases and pour batter into them and place in a preheated oven at 180 degree Celcius, bake for 15-20 minutes. Check with a toothpick and if it comes out clean, your healthy, gluten-free muffins are ready!

2. Frozen Banana Cereal Pops

Whenever your kids ask for a tasty treat next time, prepare this quick and healthy dessert for them! This one is like a little snack and tastes delicious. Here is how you can make it.

You need:

  1. Bananas
  2. Popsicle sticks
  3. Greek yogurt
  4. Breakfast cereal

Directions:

Peel bananas and insert popsicle sticks. Take greek yogurt, any flavour of your choice and using a spoon or a brush, apply it all over the bananas. Take cereal on plate and roll these yogurt coated bananas. You can finish it off with any toppings of your choice, be it choco chips or biscuit crumbs. Next, freeze these bananas for good 2-4 hours. Enjoy!

3. Brownie In A Mug

Nothing like a gooey and hot brownie! If you are craving for one then here is an easy peasy brownie in a mug recipe that is ready in just 5 minutes.

You need:

  • 2 tsp powdered sugar
  • 3 tbsp milk
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla essence
  • 3 tsp oil
  • 3 tbsp maida or all purpose flour
  • 3 tbsp cocoa powder
  • Pinch of salt

Directions:

In a microwave-safe mug, add sugar, milk and vanilla essence. Mix well. Next add oil, maida, cocoa powder, and salt. Mix to prepare a thick chocolaty paste. Microwave for 1 minute and your brownie is ready! Top with whipped cream or ice cream!

4. Cake Pops

If your kids are craving for a chocolaty treat during this quarantine period then they would love having these delicious and cute cake pops at home. Chef Ritika from Cocopots has shared this quick and easy recipe with us. Get your kids to prepare these cake pops, they would love making it. A fun activity for them, they can decorate it the way they like!

You need:

  • Cake (packed or fresh)
  • Chocolate bar
  • Cream
  • Sprinklers or any topping of your choice

Directions:

In a bowl, crumble cake slices with your hands. Take another bowl and roughly break a chocolate bar into pieces. Add some cream to it. Microwave till the mix melts. Prepare small balls of the cake and then insert popsicle sticks or toothpicks. Dip these balls in the chocolate and cream dip. Top with sprinklers or oreos. Freeze for 4 hours, cake pops are ready!

5. Oats Barfi

Turn your regular oats into a delicious barfi to satiate your sweet tooth without consuming too many calories.

You need:

  • Oats/Oats powder
  • 35 gram of powdered sugar
  • Handful of almonds
  • 1 tsp powdered green cardamom
  • 15 gram khoya
  • Ghee as required

Directions:

Take oats and grind in a mixer to make a fine powder. Take a pan, add water and sugar to prepare syrup. In a pan, add ghee, roast oats. Next, add cardamom powder to the pan. Add khoya and keep stirring. Once the sugar syrup is ready, add it to the pan and mix well. Grease a thali with ghee and transfer oats barfi mix to it. Let it cool and then slice into barfis. You can top these barfis with almonds or any other dry fruit of your choice.

6. Biscuit Ice cream

A scoop of icecream can change your mood in a jiffy! I can vouch for this recipe, I have tried it and it turns out to be delicious.

You need:

  • 3 packets biscuits
  • 1/2 cup cream
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 1 tsp bournvita/horlicks
  • 1 tsp vanilla essence (optional)
  • 1 cup cold milk

Directions:

In a mixer, roughly break any biscuits of your choice. (I used a mix of oreos, chocolate chip and glucose biscuits) Grind to make a fine powder. Next add sugar to it and mix again. Pour cold milk and mix well. Now time to add bournvita or horlicks. (This is a substitute for cocoa powder) Take a box, any airtight container available at your home. Transfer ice cream batter to it. You can top it with cookie crumbs, chocolate pieces or even dry fruits. Cover with a foil paper and close the box. Freeze for 4 hours.

7. 3 Ingredient Chocolate Mousse

If you have chocoholics in the family then this is the dessert for them. Light and creamy, chocolate mousse can instantly add to your mood. Here is an easy, 5 minute chocolate mousse recipe.

You need:

  • Cream
  • Powdered sugar
  • Cocoa powder

Directions:

Take a bowl and place in the freezer for 30 minutes. This will make it easier for you to whip your cream. Take your cream in the bowl and then start to whisk. You can use an electric mixer if you have one. Once the cream turns frothy and thick, add powdered sugar to it. Add cocoa powder and mix. Now whisk the mixture till you get those soft peaks. Take glasses and transfer the mousse to it. Top with some chocolate chips and enjoy!

8. Bread Gujiya

So, I saw this quick recipe somewhere on social media and thought of giving it a try and believe me, it was delicious. You require just 3 ingredients and your delicious dessert is ready!

You need:

  • Butter
  • Chocolate bar/ spread or nutella
  • Bread slices

Directions:

Take a bread slice and place two chocolate pieces or a spoon of nutella in the center. Now fold this bread and using a bowl or a spoon. Repeat for other bread slices. On a pan, add some butter and fry your gujiyas till they turn golden brown.

9. Peanut Butter Fudge

Treat everyone with a delicious and healthy peanut butter fudge. Again, a really easy recipe that can be enjoyed anytime!

You need:

  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 cup peanut butter
  • 1 tsp vanilla essence

Directions:

Boil milk and sugar and switch off flame. Next, add peanut butter and vanilla essence to it. Keep stirring till smooth. Take any container, grease it with some butter or oil. Pour the peanut butter mix to it and let it cool. Slice into squares.

10. Apple Jalebi

Miss enjoying hot and crispy jalebis? Here is giving the traditional jalebis a tasty twist.

You need:

  • 1 apple
  • 3 cups of water
  • 1 cup ghee
  • 1 1/2 tsp saffron or kesar
  • 2 cup maida or flour
  • 1 cup sugar
  • Dry fruits for garnish

Directions:

In a bowl, add maida and water. Mix well. You can keep this mix overnight. Next in another pan, add water and sugar to make sugar syrup. Also, add saffron to this water. Slice apples and make a hole in the center using a knife. In a pan, add some ghee. Dip apples in the all-purpose flour batter and fry these slices. Next, dip these apple slices in sugar syrup and top with dry fruits of your choice. Serve hot.

11. Cashew Clusters

This one is a crunchy, delicious, quick sweet snack you can prepare at home.

You need:

  • Cashews cut into halves
  • Chocolate

Directions:

In a pan, roast cashews till they turn crunchy. Microwave chocolate pieces. Add cashews to your melted chocolate bowl and mix well. On a parchment paper, spoon out the mix. Freeze for 15 minutes and enjoy!

12. Vanilla Pudding

Nothing can beat the taste of some classic vanilla pudding. Creamy and delicious!

You need:

  1. 2 cup milk
  2. 3 tbsp cornflour
  3. 1/2 cup sugar
  4. 1/4 tsp salt
  5. 2 tbsp butter
  6. 2 tsp vanilla essence

Directions:

In a bowl, add cornflour, sugar, and salt. Mix well. Next, add water and whisk till the mix turns creamy. In a pan, add milk and bring to boil. Add cornflour mix to it and stir. Take off the flame when the mixture thickens. Add butter and vanilla to the cornflour mix. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and chill overnight.

13. Rava Ladoo

Not a chocolate person but craving something sweet? Try making this easy and healthy sweet recipe.

You need:

  • 1 cup suji or semolina
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 1 tsp cardamom powder
  • 1/4 cup ghee
  • Dry fruits

Directions:

In a pan, add ghee and roast suji till it gives out a nice fragrance. Transfer to a plate. In a mixer, add suji, powdered sugar, cardamom powder. In a pan, take ghee and fry dry fruits. Add suji mix to it. Let the mixture cool and then taking small portions, make ladoos. You can store these ladoos in an airtight container for a month.

14. Nutella Cookie

You need:

1 cup maida or all-purpose flour

1 cup nutella or any other chocolate spread of your choice

1 cup curd

Directions:

In a bowl, mix all the ingredients well. Now take a piping bag or using a spoon transfer the mix on to the idli stand. Cook for 15 to 20 minutes. Let these cookies cool and enjoy!

15. Kaju Pista Kulfi

Kulfi is one of the most loved Indian desserts and if you are craving for one then don't stop yourself from enjoying it. Prepare creamy kaju pista kulfi at home with this easy recipe.

You need:

  • 5 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 tbsp kaju or cashew nuts
  • 1 tbsp pista or pistachios
  • 2 tbsp green cardamom powder

Directions:

In a pan, add milk and heat till it is reduced to half. Next, add sugar and cardamom powder to it. Let the mix cool. Add chopped cashews and pistachios to it. Mix again. Transfer to kulfi molds and if you don't have one then transfer to any container and cover it. Place in the freezer and let it chill for 6 hours. Cut into slices, serve.

16. Dry Fruit Panjiri

This is one traditional sweet that can be enjoyed as a dessert or a snack too. You can prepare it at home using a few ingredients.

You need:

  • 1 cup ghee
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 1 tbsp each dry fruits
  • 1 cup atta or wheat flour
  • 1 tbsp cardamom powder

Directions:

In a pan, add some ghee and add all the dry fruits. You can use almonds, pistachios, cashew nuts, raisins. Roast them till they turn crisp and keep aside. You can also add makhanas to it to make it healthier. In the same pan, add ghee and roast wheat flour. When it turns golden in colour, add cardamom powder. Keep mixing. Add powdered sugar and mix again. Let the panjiri cool. Serve.

17. Jaggery Malpua

Jaggery is a healthy substitute for sugar. Prepare the traditional malpua at home using jaggery. Here is an easy recipe.

You need:

  • 1/2 cup jaggery
  • 1 cup atta or whole wheat
  • 1/2 tsp fennel seeds
  • 1/2 tsp cardamom powder
  • 3/4 tsp fruit salt
  • Ghee for cooking

Directions:

In a pan, add water and jaggery, cook well till jaggery melts. Take off flame and let it cool. Now add wheat flour to the jaggery and mix well. Make sure there are no lumps. Add cardamom powder and fruit salt. Mix again. Grease the pan with some ghee and pour malpua batter. Cook on both sides till the malpua turns crispy.

18. Coconut Bites

Here is another guilt-free dessert for you! Just a few ingredients and a healthy sweet awaits you!

You need:

  • 1 tsp vanilla essence
  • 2 cups shredded coconut
  • 2 tsp honey
  • 3 tsp coconut oil

Directions:

Pulse coconut to make a fine powder. Next, transfer it to a bowl and add all other ingredients. Mix well till you get a thick paste. Refrigerate the mix for a few minutes and then make small bite-size balls. Enjoy!

19. Lauki Barfi

Enjoy this easy and healthy dessert recipe at home with this easy recipe. Healthy because we use bottlegourd or lauki and turn them into delicious barfis.

You need:

  • 1 lauki or bottle gourd
  • 1 tin condensed milk
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 tsp cardamom powder
  • Finely chopped dry fruits

Directions:

Wash bottle gourd and peel. Grate and keep aside. Now in a pan, add grated lauki or bottle gourd and milk. Mix well and cook for 10 minutes. Next, add cardamom powder and mix again. Pour condensed milk and keep stirring. Grease a plate with ghee and transfer the barfi batter to it. Top with dry fruits of your choice. Let it set and then cut into barfis.

20. Oreo Truffles

You need:

1 cup crushed oreos

1 cup cream

2 cup chocolate (dark or milk)

Directions:

In a pan, add cream and let it boil. Roughly chop your chocolate bar and put it in a bowl. Pour hot cream over chocolate pieces and mix well. Keep this mix in the refrigerator and let it cool. After 30 minutes, start rolling small balls and roll them into crushed oreos. Refrigerate and serve.

21. Banana Ice Cream

Here is a 5-minute ice cream recipe that everyone would love to enjoy! Just 3 ingredients and you have a bowl of creamy banana ice cream ready!

You need:

3 ripe bananas

3 tbsp milk

Chocolate chips or dry fruits

Directions:

Slice bananas into thin slivers and keep in a plastic container. Freeze for 2 hours. Next in a blender, add milk, frozen bananas, and chocolate chips. The mix will turn thick and creamy. Store in a container and freeze. Scoop it out and top with some chocolate syrup or nutella. Enjoy!
