A good sleep is very important for everyone. It has the ability to make a person feel calm, refreshed, and active for the next day. It also helps to de-stress the mind. However, without a good sleep, a person can get easily irritated, feel tired and it can also ruin one's day.  That is why, one should make it a point to go to bed on time and get a good night's sleep of 7-8 hours every night.

But if you're having trouble getting good sleep, these Yoga asanas suggested by Nutritionist Rujuta Diwekar can help you de-stress and sleep better.

According to nutritionist Rujuta Diwekar, people can lose their ability to sleep during a pandemic, as well as amid stress or dieting, heartbreak or relationship tension, or maybe with an indigestion, constipation, or bloating problem. And with that, one's body also gets affected. 

To deal with this situation of not getting sleep, she suggests 4 asanas that can help de-stress and sleep better.

1. Vajrasana With Support

Rujuta suggested doing Vajrasana with support. In the video, she can be seen bending her knees and sitting on it while keeping the body straight. Along with that, she suggested performing this asana with the help of a support.

Vajrasana can help us relax while also reducing stress and anxiety. That is why, it helps us in getting a good night's sleep.

2. Adhomukhosavasana

Rujuta suggested moving on to Adhomukhoveerasana after Vajrasana. She can be seen sitting on her heels and slowly stretching her upper body to her front and then bending it to touch her hands to the floor to perform Adhomukhoveerasana.

3. Janu Sirsasana with support

She then proceeded to perform Janu Sirsasana, in which she can be seen touching the insides of her thigh with one foot and then bending her back using a chair as a support.

This yoga asana is known to improve sleeping patterns when included in a daily yoga routine.

4. Supta Baddha Konasana

For the last Asana she performed, she carried out Supta baddha konasana. 

The Supta Baddha Konasana is a restorative yoga pose that helps with sleeping and body alignment. It can give you a sense of calmness and relaxation. It could also be the key to getting a good- night's sleep and helps in falling asleep quickly once in bed.

Additionally, these yoga asanas should be performed before going to bed, according to Rujuta. She also said that they should be performed on the mattress or on a good mat, and that they shouldn't last longer than two to three minutes each. These asanas help to induce sleep and de-stress the body.
