Cervical spondylosis is generally an issue with sets in with age. It is a common term used for the wear and tear that comes with time and age, affecting the spinal disks in the neck. They shrink and dehydrate which is a sign of osteoarthritis and it worsens as the years in life progress. If you believe in acupressure then this might just be a way out.
Grand Master Akshar suggests that "before activating the acupressure points in the body it is important to heat up the body through sukshma vyayam. Sukshma Vyayam can be loosely translated as warm-up exercises in yoga. Start by walking around, and mobilizing your calves, and your ankles."
"You can also practice some light breathing techniques such as Anulom Vilom, Kapal Bhati etc. In yoga, sukshma vyayam starts at the bottom so begins with gentle rotation of the ankles, knees, hips, arms, shoulders, wrists, head and neck regions. With the help of acupressure techniques and yoga postures, one can easily overcome the problem of cervical spondylosis. The acupressure points that can be effectively activated to manage the condition of cervical spondylosis lie in the arms and the feet," he added.
- You can actively press your entire arms both towards the front and the back of the arm with as much pressure as you are comfortable with.
- Bring your feet towards you and rub the bottom side of your feet to generate heat. You can also rub your fingers in between your toes and massage the top of your feet.
- Stretched out your right hand and hold the index finger with the opposite hand. Now using your thumb press the thumb bone rapidly over the palm for 1 minute.
Stretch out your fingers and you need to target the second finger after the thumb. This needs to be done on the right hand and you are required to press the ring finger for 1 minute.
- Turn your right palm to face downwards. Using the second hand or ask someone else to press the gap between the middle finger and the ring finger.
Begin each day with some sukshma vyayama for at least 5-10 minutes. This will ensure that you get rid of the problem of vertigo, improve mobility of the spine, waist, shoulders, and relieve joint pain. Sukshma Vyayam or subtle exercises should be compulsorily before you begin your workout. These exercises allow your body to remain safe from any injury. This includes gentle movements starting from the toes upwards. Slowly warm up your ankles, hips, shoulders, wrists, and neck with simple easy rotations.
