Since it comes after scorching heat, monsoon is one of the most awaited seasons. But, while we may enjoy the rains, it also sets the ground for many health challenges especially to those with weak immune systems. Most of the time, we report cases of common seasonal illnesses like fever, cough, malaria, stomach infection due to junk food etc. So, having a strong immunity is of utmost importance during monsoons and this is where Kadha comes in. Ms Vaidya Smita Naram, co-founder of Ayushakti, tells us more about this quintessential desi immunity booster and why it is a must for the rainy season.
Kadha: The Ultimate Immunity Booster in Monsoon 2025
Ms Vaidya Smita Naram says that Kadha “not only supports your body’s natural defences but also strengthens the immune system. It is an old traditional Ayurvedic beverage that even our grandmothers used to make.”
The reason why kadha is the ultimate immunity booster in monsoons is because it balances your “kapha dosha.”
“Kapha is the earth and water energy in our body that can make you feel heavy or congested. It consists of a powerful blend of ingredients, which are easily available in our kitchens, making this a very effective remedy,” Ms Vaidya Smita Naram adds.

- Tulsi (Holy Basil), known for its adaptogenic properties
- Ginger, a natural anti-inflammatory, which helps to alleviate congestion and promote digestion
- Elaichi (Cardamom), a natural expectorant, which helps to clear mucus from the respiratory tract
- Pippali (Piper longum), a natural immunity booster, which helps to combating infections
- Shunthi (Dried Ginger) , a natural digestive aid, which helps to reduce nausea and alleviate digestive issues
- Cinnamon, a natural anti-inflammatory that helps to reduce congestion and promotes circulation
- 1 tsp of Guduchi, which is known to reduce allergic rhinitis symptoms
