Women are most likely to neglect their health and prioritise everyone else in the family. However, a woman has to go through a lot of physical changes throughout her life, making her prone to infections and diseases. Thus, it becomes essential for women to take necessary precautions to help maintain their health and ensure their safety. Taking certain vaccines can help women build up strong defence mechanisms against various life-threatening diseases that can affect their overall health and well-being. 5 Essential Vaccines For Women
Here are the five essential vaccines for every woman:
HPV Vaccine
The human papillomavirus vaccine (HPV) helps protect your body against human papillomavirus which is believed to have a link with genital warts, cervical cancer, and cancer of the vagina, vulva, and anus. HPV is mainly transmitted through skin contact during sexual intercourse. Getting the HPV vaccine can help your immune system create enough antibodies to fight against this virus. This vaccine is recommended for individuals from 9 to 45 years old. For kids and teenagers ( 9-11) the vaccine is given in two stages in the period of 6 to 12 months. Similarly, for people 16 to 25 years old, the vaccine is given in three stages within 6 months.
Hepatitis B Vaccine
Hepatitis B is a serious liver infection which is caused by the hepatitis B virus. It can range from mild illness to liver damage, cirrhosis, liver cancer, and even death in certain cases. This infection can be easily prevented by getting vaccinated with the HBV vaccine. HBV vaccine is recommended to all and can be taken by every age group.
MMR Vaccine
The MMR vaccine helps your immune system fight against 3 serious diseases: Measles, Mumps, and Rubella. These 3 diseases can cause severe health issues and complications, especially in pregnant women and their babies. For children, the minimum age to get vaccinated against MMR is 12 months and the maximum age is 12 years. Teenagers or adults who did not receive MMR vaccine in childhood should try getting 2 doses of MMR vaccine at the interval of 28 days.
Influenza (Flu) Vaccine
Influenza is a type of viral infection that can highly impact the nose, throat (home remedies for sore throat), and also the lungs. People affected with influenza might experience symptoms such as extreme body pain, difficulty in breathing due to a runny or stuffy nose, feeling feverish, sore throat, fatigue, and cough. Taking the influenza vaccine can help your body create the necessary antibodies to fight against the flu and make your immunity strong. Everyone from the age of 6 months and older is advised to get vaccinated for influenza flu.
