Quick Tip To Remove Excess Salt In Dal
In the movie, Sharmaji Namkeen, Rishi Kapoor can be seen preparing black dal in one of the sequences. For this, he had a quick hack.
Wash and peel a raw potato and cut it into 4 small pieces. Add it to the dal and keep it for 10 minutes. The dal can also be cooked with the potatoes for a few minutes to absorb all the excess salt. The potatoes can then be discarded before serving the dal.
Another hack to reduce excess salt in dal is by adding tamarind pulp to it. It helps balance the flavour of the dal. In case one doesn't have tamarind, they can use raw mango. Add chopped pieces into the dal and pressure cook for one whistle. Remove before serving the dal. (Easy hack to cut onions without crying)
