Legendary actor Rishi Kapoor's last film, Sharmaji Namkeen is now streaming on Amazon Prime. Unfortunately, Rishi Kapoor passed away halfway through filming this movie directed by Hitesh Bhatia. However, Paresh Rawal filled in for Rishi Kapoor's role and helped the makers complete the project.

The movie is now out and we see Brij Gopal Sharma's character being played by both Rishi Kapoor and Paresh Rawal in parts. This is for the first time in the history of Indian cinema that a central character has been played by two different actors.

If you haven't watched the movie yet, let us tell you that Sharmaji Namkeen is a simple, sweet story of a retired managed who grows tired of his life a few months after his retirement and keeps hunting for ways to keep himself occupied.

Since he always had a passion for cooking, he ends up becoming a home cook. As a home cook for a group of kitty party ladies, Brij Gopal Sharma prepares some of his best recipes and even shares his tips and tricks. So, we thought of bringing you all the kitchen tips Brij Gopal Sharma's character gave us in the movie.

Quick Tip To Remove Excess Salt In Dal

In the movie, Sharmaji Namkeen, Rishi Kapoor can be seen preparing black dal in one of the sequences. For this, he had a quick hack.

Wash and peel a raw potato and cut it into 4 small pieces. Add it to the dal and keep it for 10 minutes. The dal can also be cooked with the potatoes for a few minutes to absorb all the excess salt. The potatoes can then be discarded before serving the dal.

Another hack to reduce excess salt in dal is by adding tamarind pulp to it. It helps balance the flavour of the dal. In case one doesn't have tamarind, they can use raw mango. Add chopped pieces into the dal and pressure cook for one whistle. Remove before serving the dal. (Easy hack to cut onions without crying)
