Actress Meghan Markle whose life changed 360 degrees when she said "I Do" to Prince Harry in May 2018 and became the Duchess of Sussex, has always believed in the power of Yoga and follows it like a loyal fan. The expecting actress has stressed many times since the time she was just a kid, that yoga has healing powers, it can battle jet lag, helps in putting your mind at ease, is better and easier on your body as compared to any other form of exercise, improves sleep quality and is amazing for pregnant women!
Let's take a look at what all Meghan has to say about Yoga.
In an interview in 2015, Meghan told a magazine that her mother is a yoga instructor. "I started doing mommy-and-me yoga with her when I was seven.”
Yoga Has Healing Powers
In an article, Meghan shared that "most things can be cured with either yoga, the beach, or a few avocados". As per the National Center for Complementary and Integrative Health, a USA government agency, yoga has a positive impact on the overall well-being of a person as it reduced the stress and improves mental health. It also helps in overcoming health issues like obesity, cancer, diabetes and more but of course in combination with other treatments.
Yoga Can Help Battle Jet Lag
Going by an article posted last year Meghan was on a tour of Australia, New Zealand, Fiji, and the Kingdom of Tonga, wherein instead of staying awake, she dealt with jet lag by practising yoga at 4: 30 a.m. Although there are no studies to prove the yoga and jet lag association it is said that yoga can help with some of the general symptoms that are associated with jet lag, like body tightness, achy feelings, and even disrupted sleep.
Yoga Helps The Mind
Reportedly, Meghan told the members of a mental health advocacy group called OneWave that how yoga isn’t just about exercise. She said: “ It is so good for healing your mind." Also, if your mind is calm then you are happier a person as well right?!

In her pre-royal days, the former "Suits' star said in a video interview to a media house that “As I’ve gotten older, running has become hard on my knees, so I can’t run outside the way I used to." She said that this motivated her to switch up her routine and practice yoga workouts instead.
Yoga A Good Exercise Option for Pregnant Women
Meghan is still practising yoga during her pregnancy. As per a number of studies, prenatal yoga can help women stay relaxed and sleep more soundly. It also helps in dealing with pregnancy-related symptoms, like headaches, nausea, back pain and more. However, there are certain poses pregnant women should also avoid, like lying on the belly, backbends, aggressive twists, and more. We recommend that you do whatever but check with your doctor and yoga instructor first.
