Glass Cleaner And Liquid Detergent 

Ants tend to leave a scented pheromone trail behind as they walk. The trail acts as a map for them. Using a glass cleaner and liquid detergent can help you remove the scent and deter the ants from re-entering your home. Here's how you can use these ingredients- 

  • Mix glass cleaning spray with liquid detergent into a clean spray bottle.
  • Spray the mixture on areas where ants seem to enter from or congregate around.
  • After spraying, wipe down the area leaving a light residue.

For if you don't have a glass cleaner, you can switch the ingredient for the next available soapy wash you have at your house, like a hand wash.

Red Pepper

  • All you will need is to sprinkle the pepper around baseboards and behind appliances.
  • Rub the pepper around the area and leave it for 10-15 minutes. 
  • Wipe it post the timmer's up. 


Peppermint is a natural insect repellent that may effectively help you get rid of ants and other bugs, like mosquitoes.  To use peppermint as an ant repellent, here's how to go about it:

  • Mix 10 to 20 drops of peppermint essential oil with 2 cups of water in a clean plastic spray bottle.
  • Spray the mixture around the baseboards and windows of your home.
  • Allow the mixture to dry. 

Boiling Water

This method will effectively and immediately kill many of the ants inside. Anthills may appear small from the outside, but the colonies underneath them are way bigger.

The boiling water won’t be enough to kill the entire colony.  Make sure to treat the ant hole, every once in a while, or as many as you spot. 

Just pour boiling water into the hole and you will have a very fulfilling result.
