The Ministry of State for External Affairs has released warnings about all those fake websites who charge heavy passport fees. These are not the official passport application websites and applicants must keep a check on these.
Here are some tips that you need to keep in mind if you are applying for a passport for the first time:
- Applying online is easier and gets done faster.
- Make a list of all the documents that you will need for the application process when you are heading to the office.
- When you get your appointment, make sure you get two photocopies of your original documents.
- For the tatkal passport, the applicant must submit a verification certificate and standard affidavit along with the tatkal fees.
