This weekend is all about pre preparations for Rakhi but what are your plans for Friendship Day on Sunday? This year might have been a dampener but do not let it rub on you and your friends! Make some plans, do a group a video call with a glass of your favourite drink, and cheers! But before that call, make sure you have wished them with a sweet quote or a short poem in the morning or at midnight and begun their day with a smile they need in the current hour. Here is a list you can choose from, just copy, paste, and forward them on your Facebook, WhatsApp or Twitter, whichever medium you find the most comfortable. You could also add some music to the images if you are posting them on your FB or Instagram story! So go and take your time as it has to be the best right?!
"A friend is like a star that twinkles and glows, or maybe like the ocean that gently flows.
A friend is like gold that you should treasure, and take care of forever and ever.
A friend is like an angel that is there to guide you.
A friend is someone you can trust out of a few.
A friend is more than one in a million.
They are one in a ca-zillion, and you, my friend, are very special and so it is official..."
By Ashley Campbell
"As childhood friends, we grew up together,
Swearing to be friends forever and ever.
Sometimes we would argue and fight,
Other times we would laugh and stay up all night.
Friends we do remain,
Things changing, and things staying the same.
To each other, we still listen and share,
About each other, we will always care."
By Mindy Carpenter
"We went from playing with games and toys,
To talking and dreaming about different boys.
My thoughts and feelings, to you I would confide,
Never having anything to hide."

Friendship Day was created by Joyce Hall, who was the founder of Hallmark cards in 1930. It was hugely promoted by the greeting card National Association during the 1920s but later many customers realised that it was a selling gimmick. However, in 1998, to honour the day, wife of UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan, Nane Annan, named Winnie the Pooh as the world's Ambassador of Friendship at the United Nations.
International Friendship Day is On July 30 but in India and some other countries like Malaysia, it is celebrated on every first Sunday of August.
