You might have oftentimes experienced that as soon as you open the door of your fridge and there's a strong foul smell coming out. Our refrigerators are prone to giving off bad smell because we store all kinds of fruits and vegetables in them.

When the food sits in your fridge for too long, it can develop a foul odour. Cleaning your refrigerator is the first step. Remove all the food that’s been sitting there for way too long. If your refrigerator has a drip tray, you must clean it frequently. To make your life easier, we’ve compiled a few hacks to keep that foul odour off your fridge.

Baking Soda And Water

Clean all of the shelves and drawers with a thick paste of baking soda and water. It works great on food stains and eliminates odours from the refrigerator! Well, the first and foremost step would be to get rid of all the fruits and vegetables so long that they’ve started to rot. Refrigerate for 24 hours a dish with equally dispersed freshly ground coffee. Coffee has a reputation for effectively absorbing odours. A bowl of oats can also be used to get rid of odours in the refrigerator. To get a fresh, clean aroma, place a vanilla essence-soaked cotton ball in the fridge for around 12 hours.

Coffee beans, lemon, oatmeal, and vinegar are just a few of the readily available things in your kitchen that might help you get rid of unwanted odours. Since vinegar and baking soda have odour-killing characteristics, keeping a bowl of vinegar in your refrigerator will help you achieve the results you want.

Boiled Apple Cider Vinegar

In a 1:3 ratio, mix apple cider vinegar and water. Fill a pot halfway with water and bring to a boil over high heat. Remove the mixture from the fire as soon as it begins to boil and pour it into a heat-resistant glass or metal basin.

Place the bowl in the freezer, cover it, and let it there for 4–6 hours. This should eliminate odours from your freezer. When apple cider vinegar is boiled, it absorbs unwanted odours and replaces them with a pleasant fruity aroma. Remove the vinegar mixture and throw it down the drain after 4–6 hours have passed.

Don’t Keep Your Fridge Congested

Store everything in airtight containers including leftover pizza, sandwich remnants, and more. Keep open bowls out of the fridge.

Instead of putting fruits and vegetables in drawers, keep them out in the open on the top shelf of the refrigerator. You'll be more aware of when they're about to get stale, and you'll be able to eat them before they spoil.

To begin with, be aware of how full your refrigerator is. Cleaning away rotting food can allow air to circulate more efficiently inside a fridge. Keeping a congested fridge will hinder seamless airflow inside your refrigerator.

Wipe down the shelves with a natural antibacterial surface cleanser on a regular basis for basic maintenance. Avoid using strong chemicals because they often have a fragrance that can be transferred to food.
