white shoes cleaning hacks

White shoes look adorable on dresses, jeans and traditional outfits. The only downside to buying a gorgeous pair of white shoes is maintenance and cleaning. Whether we travel in public transport or a private car, it is almost inevitable to get a stain on the surface.

Therefore, women around the globe need cleaning tips that will help you make the white shoes as good as new. Let’s read about them and apply them at home for efficient cleaning of our favourite footwear.

Micellar Water

You heard it right. Micellar water is only helpful in removing makeup but can also remove stains from white shoes. It is extremely easy and requires no mixing of any other ingredients. It also adds shine and leaves no residue behind.

Take a clean cloth, probably white, and pour some micellar water. Rub the cloth on the surface of your white shoes to get rid of the stain, dirt and dust. It works efficiently with suede, leather and rubber shoes. It does not work on ink or oil stains.

Baking Soda

Baking soda is one of the few ingredients that help with cleaning almost anything we can find at home. It is a magical ingredient that forms a mysterious potion, which works wonders. This time, we will use it with vinegar.

Take a bowl and add two tablespoons of baking soda to it. Add four tablespoons of white vinegar and a cup of water. You can either use a scrubber or toothbrush to apply the solution on white shoes and rub. Wait until the shoes become clean and rinse them off with water. It works for canvas and leather shoes.

Soap

soap and water

Soap and water solution seem like an obvious mixture, but it is also one of the most effective ones. If you have liquid dish soap at home, mix it with water to prepare the solution that will help clean white shoes without much effort.

In 240mL of water, add two teaspoons of soap and mix it well so that you can see the lather. Now, use a toothbrush to rub the solution on the shoes and repeat the process unless you get rid of all stains (Remove Rust Stains). Rinse the soap solution and leave the shoes to dry out in the air.

Toothpaste

We know how it sounds, but hear us out. White toothpaste is an amazing cleaning hack to get rid of dirty stains on shoes. All you need is toothpaste and a brush. However, do not use coloured or gel kinds of toothpaste. They will ruin your favourite shoes.

Squeeze out some toothpaste on a brush and start scrubbing the surface of the shoes. Keep rubbing it for about 20 minutes and rinse it off with water. Take fresh paper towels to remove any residue toothpaste and allow the shoes to dry in the air.

Detergent

If liquid soap can work, so can the detergent. After all, liquid or powdered detergents clean stains, dust and dirt from clothes. Hence, they are perfect for washing a pair of white shoes.

Prepare a mixture of detergent and water that lathers up well. Take a toothbrush and start scrubbing the shoes to make them neat and tidy. Once you are happy with the results, rinse off the shoes nicely with warm water and let them dry.
