With melodramatic dialogues, hard-hitting stories, depressing tunes, and many more, so many Bollywood movies have managed to make us cry. But don’t we all need to weep sometimes in order to feel refreshed and for those times, here is a list of some emotional Bollywood movies.
Kal Ho Na Ho
This movie may make you laugh but it will also make you cry a lot. This movie focuses on the lives of 3 youngsters, Aman (Shah Rukh Khan), Naina (Preity Zinta), and Rohit (Saif Ali Khan). The film deals with a lot of dark themes including adultery, illegitimate children, suicide, and many more. However, the moment when all our hearts break is when we Aman is dying on that hospital bed and we get to know the reason why he was pushing away Naina even though he loved her with all his heart.
The Sky Is Pink
When it comes to severe illness, our hearts always melt. It is also a fact when we get to know that sad stories are, then they become even sadder. Based on real-life, this movie focuses on the late Aisha Chaudhary who was diagnosed with a terminal illness, and how that changed her family’s entire life and their relationships. This film is an emotional rollercoaster but beautiful at the same time.
Taare Zameen Par
The film revolved around the life of Ishaan who is dyslexic but his parents choose to not address the problem and instead blame his low grades on naughtiness. This young child is then sent to a boarding school to get him disciplined where his art teacher helps to deal with his problem. The portrayal of mental disabilities in such a wonderful way and the problems attached to them makes us weep a lot. Also, whenever we hear the Maa song, we just can’t stop our tears.
Rang De Basanti
Starting off as a fun college drama movie (movies to watch with your mother) with lots of funny moments, this movie quickly turned into a hard-hitting one when politics and patriotism have been factored in. The second half of the movie showed us the sad realities of the world and created several moments when we couldn’t control our tears. However, the last scene was the most emotional one as the main characters are being killed just for speaking the truth.
This movie has to be on this list as this shows the realities of the world and it is so heartbreaking. Raj (Amitabh Bachchan) and his wife Pooja (Hema Malini) have been the best parents to their 4 sons but their ungrateful children separate the two in their old age and make fun of them. Even after getting insulted, raj and Pooja still have immense love in their hearts for their children.
All their children chose to leave their parents in their old age except their 5th adopted son, Alok. This gem of a movie will take you on an emotional ride and there won’t be a moment when there are no tears in your eyes.
