With the #sareetwitter hashtag trending and women from the across the country going all out with their best saree selfies, our celebs too could not hold back, This time it is our politician and Birthday Girl Priyanka Gandhi who caught the fever and she shared her pic in a saree as a throwback and social media is going crazy!

This Saree twitter trend began on Monday, July 16th and went viral on social media. Sarees or saris have been a part of our lives since long... they may have been worn differently but they have been there for a very long time starting with the tribals. Anyhow, to catch up with the trend many women common or celebrity have been posting their pics in the six-yard or nine-yard wonder. Besides Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, other women who posted their pics in this beautiful ethnic wear include Nagma, Priyanka Chaturvedi, Manu S Pillai shared the image of Kalyani Pillai, who is perhaps the first Malayali woman to wear a saree this way, then it is Kiran Deepti, Ushnota Paul, Suzanne Bernert and the list can go on. Have a look!
Because #SareeTwitter & I cannot miss tweeting with this hashtag :) pic.twitter.com/VTC2ISlvoy

Saree dipicts our Indian tradition and culture. It is also supposed to be known as our sexiest costume. One looks dignified , elegant, beautiful , graceful and yet can seem very appealing in it #SareeTwitter pic.twitter.com/gVIuAZ6Uco

Re #SareeTwitter: here is Kalyani Pillai (1839-1909), very likely the first Malayali woman to wear a sari in 1868. Wife of the maharajah of Travancore, she was first married to a Kathakali star, and went on to establish herself as a playwright and poet in the 1870s. pic.twitter.com/zHqgKaMnld

Actress Renuka Shahne as well shared a pic of her in a black typical Maharashtrian Paithani saree... an art which is going extinct but we still have some women working on not letting the art die.
