Let us start with tucking the saree just a little above the navel. Begin tucking in the top portion of the saree from the right side of the hip. Then, drape it around your waist and stop at the front near your navel. Make sure that you tuck neatly and the saree should cover your feet when you are bare feet while you are wearing heels, only the top of your feet should be covered.

Step 2

After taking the saree once around your waist, stop at the navel. Now, take the saree to the left hip and tuck it in. Now you will see that the reverse side of the saree will show in the front. Now, take it towards the right hip. Tuck it in and again, bring the saree to the left hip. Again, take it to the right side and tuck inside. Now, two broad pleats will be covering the front.

Step 3

Now, take the rest of the saree from the pallu and make the pleats. After you are done making the pleats, smoothen those out in order to get rid of any crinkles. If you want clean pleats, use both hands to make the pleats.

Step 4

Take the pallu across your left shoulder and make sure that the entire length goes across the shoulder. This will ensure that the front part of your body is well draped. Pin your saree at the shoulder and also, secure the parts of the saree.

Now, just it over your right shoulder and you are done. If you don’t want to tie anything at the end of the pallu, then you can let it be. Just throw it over your right shoulder and you are done.
