Travelling to Bhutan just got more costlier for Indian, Maldives and Bangladesh tourists. As per the latest report, Bhutan has decided to levy charges of INR 1000 ($250) on tourists from regional countries. The fee has been levied considering instances of some tourists disrespecting the local customs and traditions and also disobeying the law and orders.

Till now, Indian tourists do not have to pay visa or any entry fee to visit Bhutan while those from other countries pay $250 as a minimum charge per day which includes a $65 sustainable development fee.
