Our expert, Shahnaz Husain is here to help you out get Valentine ready by answering some of the frequently asked questions for you!
What Is The Best Face Pack To Use Before Valentine’s Day?
A “pick-me-up” face mask can leave your skin clean and glowing. Cleanse the skin. Mix together one teaspoon of honey and lemon juice with some egg white and apply it to the face using a brush. Wash it off with plain lukewarm water post the 20-minute timer. After washing off the pack, give your skin a cold compress with rose water-soaked cotton wool pads to add a glow.
What To Do With A Random Pimple Days Before Valentine’s?
If you have time, apply a sandalwood paste to the pimple.
But if a pimple suddenly makes its appearance on Valentine’s Day, just apply foundation all over it and dab it onto the skin using a beauty blender. Avoid rubbing and just pat it on the pimple. Wait for it to dry and then apply foundation on the entire face. Touch up the pimple again with foundation. Then apply powder to set the foundation to your face!
What Am I Supposed To Do About Pimple Pits?
To conceal pits left after acne scars, take some foundation that is a shade or two lighter than the one you use on your entire face. Apply the light foundation into the pits using a fine brush. A concealer can also be used instead of a foundation if you don’t have a range of shades to help you out. Wait for a few minutes. Then, apply your normal foundation or compact powder to the rest of the face.
What To Do If I Can’t Use Foundation Due To My Oily Skin Type For Valentines?
Shahnaz Husain thinks young skin looks fresh and natural with less make-up application. Leave out the foundation, especially during the day. After cleansing, apply skin tonic or astringent lotion. After a few minutes, use compact powder. Pay more attention to the oily areas of the face, like the nose, the forehead or the chin area.
Select a beige shade, rather than picking a pink shade. It suits most Indian skin tones. For a fair complexion, the pink compact powder can be used. Dab the powder all over the face and neck, with a slightly damp beauty sponge. That helps it to set and last longer.
What Eyeshadow Look Should I Go For This Valentine's Day?
For eye shadow, you need three colours. You can select a brown or a grey shade. Apply a medium shade on eyelids and the darker eyeshadow in the crease of the lids. This helps to add depth.
Light eyeshadow or the highlighter can also be applied to the outer brow bone. Another way of using eye shadow is to outline the eyes with kajal or eyeliner. Try to get a smudged effect using a sponge-tipped applicator. Then apply the dark eyeshadow on the upper lid, close to the lashes, over the liner or kajal.
During the day, a dark brown or dark grey shadow can be used to line the eyes, close to the lashes, instead of eyeliner. That will give your eyes a softer look.
What Is The Latest Lipstick Trend?
Dramatic red for lips continue to be in charge. Red and shades of red, especially coral, is the trend.
Plum, wine and dark pink will be popular for the night. For teenagers, lip gloss is always the popular choice. You can go for the neutral look for the day with light pink or beige lipstick, with a hint of pearl, or just plain lip gloss.
Lilac, mauve and light pink will also find favour during the day. Lip liner colours should always be the same as lipstick colours.
How Do I Use Mascara?
Roll-on mascara is easy to apply process. You should also have a small brush, to brush out the lashes, after applying mascara. Be sparing when you apply mascara - too much of it will make the lashes stick together.
Use a hand mirror, looking downwards into it. The application is best this way. Apply it in two or three light coats, using upward strokes for the upper lashes and downward strokes for the lower ones.
Wait for the first coat to dry and then apply the second one. After applying the final coat and letting it dry, brush out the lashes to separate them using a spoolie. If you apply a little powder on the lashes between the coats of mascara, they will appear thicker but don’t use a lot of it as it may appear to look uneven and disturbing.
