Almonds have long been used as a beauty elixir. Cleopatra used almonds for her beauty regime and so did our ancestors. Sweet almonds are rich in vitamin E, vitamin A, zinc, essential fats, vitamin k and many more nutrients. It protects our skin from harmful UV rays in summers, hydrates and nourishes dry skin in winter and it soothes the skin in monsoon.
Organic cold-pressed almond oil is essential for a bride's beauty regime. When we say “cold pressed oil” it means that oil has been extracted manually with no heat exposed during extraction. The use of heat destroys essential vitamins that is why prefer “cold pressed” almond oil. And I say “sweet almond oil “because almonds come in a bitter and sweet variety. Bitter almond can cause skin irritation while sweet almond oil is preferred for all skin types.
Ways To Use Almonds In Food
Make a mouth freshener by using 8-10 crushed almonds, 1⁄2 cup powdered rock candy, 1⁄2 cup grated dried coconut, 1⁄4 cup watermelon seeds, 1⁄2 cup fennel seeds, 1 teaspoon cinnamon powder, 1 teaspoon cardamom powder and 8-10 strands saffron. To make this mouth freshener mix all ingredients on a low flame and sauté for 8-10 minutes and once it becomes aromatic, let it cool and store in an air tight container. Consume 1 teaspoon after a meal. This will help in digesting your meals and will also help in adding glow to your skin.
Make a batch of fresh almond milk at home and drink it once a day. Almonds are rich in vitamin E, zinc and omega 3 fatty acids. All these nutrients have a special skin benefits- Zinc helps in healing with skin scars, vitamin E protects from sun damage from UV rays of the sun. You can prepare thandai in almond milk or add 1 teaspoon gulkand to add the glow.
Almond Paste Smoothie
Soak 8-10 almonds overnight in water. Remove the peel and make a paste. Add 1 teaspoon of almond paste in your smoothie. It is an easy way to add protein and a dose of vitamin E and good fats to the diet.
You can also make homemade almond butter by blending almonds in a blender. Keep blending it until it releases oil. To make almond butter you will need 1 cup almonds and 1⁄4 cup avocado oil and pulse it in the blender on a high speed. Almond butter can be used as a healthier alternative to butter and cheesy dips and spread. It can also be used as a salad dressing and topped with toast as a spread.
Ways To Use Almond Oil For Adding Glow And Removing Tan
Essential fat helps in removing make up easily, so if you are attending a function or a pre-wedding party or shoots or even if you are using eye make-up, use 1 teaspoon of sweet almond oil and apply it to your eyes or face with a cotton swab to remove make up. It is a healthier or preferred option over harmful chemical-based makeup removers. Vitamin E in the almond oil will help in retaining the moisture back into the skin.
If you experience under-eye dark circle, use almond oil before going to bed, Sweet almond oil is hypoallergic and can be used on any skin type. Use a drop of almond oil under the eye regularly to remove dark circles.
Summer is here and we often worry getting tanned, especially as a bride. Harmful UV rays will tan your skin and will also damage your skin. Once a week massage your body with sweet almond oil or use almond oil as a moisturizer before exposing to the sun.
Rub almond oil after removing nail polish, it will hydrate your nails and prevent cuticle potion as well.
Vitamin E For Skin
Since almond oil is rich in vitamin E, it helps in hydrating our skin, so it should be applied on the skin in summers.
Apply almond oil to your scalp and massage it gently to remove any flaky scalp. This also helps in hair growth.
Almond oil can be applied any time of the day. Both oral intake of almonds and applying almonds or almond oil to the skin will enhance your beauty this summer and prepare you for the wedding.
