Looks have had a major role to play in recent times. While everybody has been wanting to go for a more enhanced facial look, many people have come up with multiple ways to do the same.
Makeup being an important aspect has had many options to help us enhance our features to the very best state possible. From hiding our acne pits to concealing those dark undereye circles, makeup helps you achieve so much more. There are multiple ways for you to enhance your lip even if you have a small and petite lip using lip liners, lip glosses, and multiple shades of lipstick.
With viral beauty trends making their place in our daily routines, a new beauty trend has surfaced on the internet and has become a sensational hit for when it had been used by a celebrity face.
What Is The Trend?
While many trends surface through the social media platform TikTok, this trend too seemed to find its way through the same. The trend has been spreading like wildfire and it’s all about highlighting your jawline to give your face a chiseled look.
Looking at the pictures and videos that seem to be popping up on our screens, it surely has been working wonders and has its very own advancement in the beauty sector.
Who Inspired The Trend?
Victoria’s Secret model, Bella Hadid went on posting a thread of pictures on her Instagram account with about 10 pictures wherein a TikTok influencer, and presumably, an Instagram follower of hers by the name of @rachelocoolmua caught a glimpse of highlighter being used by the model on the jawline.
While nobody may be sure of the model using a highlighter on the jawline, that’s exactly where TikTok found her inspiration and went on creating a beauty trend that blasted all over the internet for its exceptional outcome.
What Is Jawline Contouring?
The question certainly comes to ‘How can you contour your jawline?’. While contouring is an art designated to makeup artists (MUAs) to deliver a chiseled face, there are multiple ways to contour your face according to your face type.
Every face is different and has a different technique relating to blushing, contouring, and baking. There are several rules that one must follow to give the desired look. Following those certain rules definitely gives a wonderful outcome while it may not be a must to follow. It purely depends on an individual to contour their face according to how they think their face enhances their features the best.

How To Do Jawline Contouring?
Jawline contouring is much similar to what we do around the cheek area and also the temple of the face (the forehead).
To contour your jawline, you’ll need the following-
- A Brown Concealer Or A Contour Kit
- A Highlighter
- A Brush Or A Beauty Blender
- While you are contouring your entire face, you can also apply a strike of the dark concealer or the contour shade to your jawline but a little above the exact jawline bone.
- Using a beauty blender or the brush, whatever you are more comfortable with, start blending the contouring shade towards your hairline.
- Do not blend the shade towards your lips as it may add a lot of depth to your cheeks, which is definitely something we are trying to get rid of.
- Try blending the product more towards the hairline, but not too much, just enough to not leave hard lines behind.
- Now take the highlighter and apply just on the jawline and blend the same using your brush or beauty blender.
- Blend the same until the hard lines are visible. Let the highlighter go a little above and below the jawline for it to look as natural as possible.
What Type Of Highlighter Can You Use?
With many highlighter types available in the market, you can possibly go for any type of highlighter according to the setting of the day and your skin shade.
For a fair skin tone, it is better to use a pink shaded highlighter while for a medium skin tone, you may want to prefer peach or a golden shade.
For people with a dark skin tone, it is ideal to use a gold or bronze shaded highlighter. Hues like golden and champagne are best for medium to wheatish skin tones. Iridescent shades can also work but look for colors that have more warmth to them.
Are Indian Celebrities Also Following The Trend?
With this trend taking over social media platforms like Instagram and TikTok, many Indian celebrities like Kareena Kapoor Khan and Shilpa Shetty have been following this trend for a long while now. For them using this trend for over a decade hasn’t been much talked about in India but it could be a start to something that brings about a great change in the beauty sector.
