Let’s admit, the birthdays of our children are special occasions. And we want to do whatever it takes to make it a memorable event. This makes us throw lavish parties, where we splurge a lot of money, hoping that it will be a memorable one. When the day ends, we adults might have had a gala time, but what about the kids? If you look closely, the main person of that day, the kid/kids, is/are the most bored and worn out because of excessive socialising. Now, why not ditch the obvious of throwing birthday parties and mark the day by doing something unique and personal that the kid will remember for a lifetime? Here are 5 unique ways to celebrate your kid’s birthday.

1) Special Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

What can be more intimate than a breakfast, lunch, or dinner made specifically for the birthday kid? Keep the healthy diet aside for the day and cook whatever your child likes. Be it waffles, pizza, burger, or even Maggi, start the day with this favourite. Over the course oftime, ensure the lunch and dinner comprise food items of their choice. You can choose to decorate the house with balloons, banners, and streamers, but absolutely have no guests over. Keep everything under wraps. Their surprised faces will delight you like nothing else.

2) Go for Creative Activities

Engaging your child in creative activities and other DIY crafts can be a fruitful way to celebrate their birthday. Activities like finger painting (where there will be a finger painting station stocked up with paper, washable paints, and rags) and scavenger hunt around a local park or your house with clues leading to tiny treats or gifts will be an exciting way to spend the day. Even DIY crafts like drawing and painting are worthy considerations.

3) Outdoor Date

Go for a ride around the town or/and plan a movie with your kid. Eat at a place you think your child will enjoy. You can also choose to visit a museum or zoo and take a nature walk, introducing them to different flowers, plants, and animals. Collect rocks, flowers, and unique leaves as memory items.

4) Nostalgia Trip

This option can only be done if your child is above 5. That’s because by this age, you have clicked a lot of his/her snaps across events and otherwise on your phone or digital camera, which means you have created a bank of memories. Print those photos, buy albums, and decorate them together. You can narrate stories behind each of those photos, leading to a fun way of bonding with one another.

5) Social Service Events

Take your child to an orphanage or an NGO dealing with specially abled kids. A visit to an animal NGO will be even better. Interacting with animals has been proven to be beneficial for children. They grow up to be empathetic and balanced if they are around animals. So, that will be a good gift for them on their birthdays.

Rather than taking pressure on how to organise a flawless birthday party, focus on creating meaningful memories and experiences with your child through these non-traditional ways.
