But how do we catch them and never have them return without giving poison? Why even consider this when there is a way out?! Yes ladies it is the magic of peppermint essential oil that comes into play here. Let's read on how.

Does Peppermint Oil Really Help?

So this oil has a strong smell which can give you and me as well headache depending upon how much we dilute it. This is still a major debate whether it is effective for a long time or not but I sure tried it before writing about it for the readers as I am really scared of them and there was one tiny mouse who had been chewing up my plastic containers. I could have placed a trap but then you have to pick up the trap also right? I cannot do that either! So I gave this a try and I will tell you how.

One way is that you spray some of it around your home but that lasted me just one night and gave me a migraine as well. The fragrance evaporates quickly. Other ways are that you buy products sold in the market that have a strong smell of peppermint. Rodents rely a lot on their sense of smell and the strong smell of menthol keeps the away. It all depends on the concentration of this oil.

How to Use It Effectively

I took a few cotton balls and poured 3 drops of the peppermint essential oil on them. Then places them all in nooks and corners of the house where I thought it may be entering from and where it destroys my lunch boxes. Change those balls twice a week for hygiene purposes and to renew the menthol essence. Make sure that your kids and pets do not touch them as the oil is very toxic.
