Miss England 2024, Milla Magee, has been making headlines for various reasons, and this time it’s due to her unexpected decision to exit the ongoing Miss World pageant in Hyderabad, India.
Representing the United Kingdom at the international competition currently taking place in Telangana, Magee shocked many by pulling out of the event, initially citing personal reasons.

Miss England Drops Out Of Miss World 2025 Due To Ethical Concerns
Milla Magee arrived in Hyderabad on May 7, 2025, to take part in various promotional activities before the main Miss World 2025 event. However, just nine days later, on May 16, 2025, she suddenly withdrew from the pageant. At first, her exit was said to be due to a family emergency, but Magee has now come forward with a much more serious explanation.

In an interview with The Sun, Magee opened up about the real reason behind her decision to leave. She described her experience in Hyderabad as degrading and said she felt objectified. “We had to sit like performing monkeys,” she shared, explaining that contestants were made to dine with guests and expected to keep them entertained all evening. “There were two of us at each table with six guests. We were told to stay there the whole evening and chat with them as a way of thanking them. I thought, ‘This is not right’. I didn’t sign up to be treated like this,” she said.
Magee didn’t hold back, even stating, “They made me feel like a prostitute.” She also mentioned that whenever she tried to talk about her charity work, no one seemed to care. “I tried speaking about the causes I supported, but the men weren’t interested,” she recalled.
Calling the Miss World pageant ‘outdated and stuck in the past,’ Magee criticised how far the experience was from the values the competition claims to promote.
Miss World Organisation Responds
In response to the allegations, the Miss World Organisation issued a detailed statement and shared unedited footage of Magee during her time in India. The group strongly denied her claims, calling them ‘completely unfounded and inconsistent with reality.’
According to the official statement, Milla Magee had informed them of a family emergency related to her mother’s health and requested to leave the competition. Julia Morley, Chairwoman and CEO of the Miss World Organisation, said she responded with compassion and made arrangements for Magee’s return to England.

The statement also addressed the media reports in the UK, calling them false and defamatory. “Certain UK media outlets have published inaccurate and damaging claims, allegedly made by Milla Magee,” it said. To counter this, the organisation released behind-the-scenes videos showing Magee appearing happy and thankful during her stay, videos they say directly contradict her recent remarks.
After Magee’s departure, Charlotte Grant, the first runner-up of Miss England, stepped in to represent the UK at Miss World 2025. The organisation stated that she has been warmly welcomed into the Miss World community.
