Even for weddings, and celebrations, we always wear colourful clothes. It is best to stick to bright colours instead of black or shades like brown, white, or grey."

Black is associated with death, darkness, and mourning. Wearing black colour on Karwa Chauth can bring difficulties in the life of the fasting woman and her husband.

"Married women should avoid colours like black, white, blue, grey, and brown. These colours might have a different meaning but in the context of Karwa Chauth, they aren't auspicious. Instead, pick colours from the red, and pink family that are associated with happiness,” said the expert.

For women who are fasting this Karwa Chauth for the first time, our expert shared some tips for married women. "Do follow the sargi ritual, if you don't have a mother-in-law or stay away from home, get your sargi meal and have it before sunrise. Fast through the day, avoid drinking water or eating food till moonrise. Applying mehendi on your hands and feet is considered auspicious.
