Also, sugar ants are attracted to dog food, therefore, make sure to keep the dog food bowl clean and away as soon as your pet is done eating. Along with this, you have to ensure that there is no damp space as it can be a habitat for these ants.
In order to effectively kill the sugar ants, you can pour boiling water in and around the sugar ant holes. This will immediately kill those ants. Ants hills may seem to be small to you but the ant colonies beneath them are wide, therefore, pouring boiling water one time won’t kill all the ants inside.
Combining Glass Cleaner And Liquid Detergent
Another great way to get rid of sugar ants is by spraying a combination of glass cleaner with liquid detergent or dish soap can be sprayed directly on sugar ants or in the areas where they seem to originate from.
These areas may be wiped down after spraying so that there is no residue left as it can again be a habitat for the sugar ants and you’ll have the same problem.

Another thing that kills and repels sugar ants is white vinegar. You can directly spray a solution of vinegar or diluted vinegar which is 50% water and 50% vinegar. Also, you can clean all the surfaces like countertops, slabs, tables and others so that sugar ants don’t reach these surfaces.
Ants can smell even a little bit of vinegar and this will keep them from entering your house. They can even smell it when the humans can’t smell it. Also, this can keep away other kinds of insects, therefore you should definitely use it.
Common insect repellents are peppermint, tea tree, neem and cinnamon. Mix about ten drops of peppermint oil, tea tree oil, neem oil or cinnamon oil in water and then it can be sprayed around the house. Afterwards leave it to get air dried. This is also effective against other insects such as mosquitos.
