Observed in Anandpur, Punjab, Hola Mohalla is a 3-day festival established by the tenth Sikh Guru, Guru Gobind Singh Ji in the late 17th century. This festival is dedicated to showcasing the camaraderie shared between people, along with mock battles, military skills, and exercises. This year, this festival is going to be observed from March 1416, 2025.

History Of Hola Mohalla

In the late 17th century, Guru Gobind Singh Ji started Hola Mohalla celebrations as a way to showcase the power of the Sikh community to the world. During this festival, Sikh men indulge in mock battles, and military training, and demonstrate their strengths and valour. Several contests are organised to check the physical strength of the participants.

Hola Mohalla 2025 Significance

Hola Mohalla is a 3-day festival. On its first day, the rituals begin with morning prayers and hymns in Gurudwaras. Nagar Kirtan processions are organised in Anandpur. The popularity of this festival invites people across the world to experience it. The next day, different types of martial art are showcased. Gatka, a traditional Sikh martial art, is organised as the main attraction of the day.

Later, mock battles, contests of archery, wrestling, and many other sports are organised throughout the day. All the Sikh men dress up in traditional outfits to participate in this festival. On the last day, Sikhs pay homage to the warriors who fought and gave their lives for the country. Later, a grand feast called Langar is organised where free meals are served to all.
