Bollywood celebrities sure know how to do things differently! Whether we talk about fashion or fitness, our most-loved Bollywood stars aren’t afraid to tread uncharted territories. They don’t shy away from taking the route less taken or even the one that’s never been taken. Bollywood stars are known for making unconventional choices in life and we can’t admire them more for breaking away from certain taboos that exist in our society. It is said that change comes slowly and subtly in a society. Looks like these Bollywood stars are taking the first step towards change!

From Anushka Sharma to Katrina Kaif, these celebrities have ditched the old and outdated ways of getting wedded. They’ve brought in a whiff of freshness with their unique weddings. These stars ditched some of the old traditions in their weddings and introduced new and relevant ones. With some of these unique celebrity weddings, we understand that weddings ought to be a celebration of love and not of obsolete customs and ceremonies. Let’s take a look at the 5 Bollywood celebrities who broke stereotypes with their unconventional weddings.

Katrina Kaif’s Sisters Holding Phoolon Ki Chadar

In traditional wedding ceremonies, the phoolon ki chadar is usually held up by the men of the family for the bride. In actress Katrina’s Kaif’s wedding, things were done differently. Her six sisters held the phoolon ki chadar as Katrina Kaif made her bridal entry. It was such a welcome sight to see the sisters being Katrina’s bridesmaids and making her day super memorable. Katrina Kaif took to Instagram and thanked her sisters for being her pillar of support. Katrina Kaif’s sisters left no stone unturned to make it a special moment for the actress.

The beautiful moment was captured in all its glory and it made the fans go all schmaltzy. Probably, now we’ll see more amongst the Gen Z breaking this stereotype of men holding the phoolon ki chadar. Sibling holding the phoolon ki chadar for the bride is going to be the new wedding trend of the season.

Patralekha Applied Sindoor To Rajkumar Rao

At Rajkumar Rao and Patralekha’s wedding, Rajkumar Rao was seen flaunting a sindoor on his forehead. Traditionally, in Indian weddings the groom puts a pinch of sindoor on the bride’s head. For women, sindoor has for long been considered a symbol of being married. At this celebrity wedding, as Rajkumar Rao put the red vermillion on Partalekha’s head, he insisted Patralekha to put sindoor on his forehead too. Rajkumar Rao stole all hearts as he said “Tum bhi lga do” to Patralekha on their wedding day, hinting her to apply vermillion on his forehead as well.

Dia Mirza Ditched Kanyadan On Her Wedding

Dia Mirza is a staunch supporter of feminism. At her wedding, she decided to do away with the regressive customs of kanyadaan and bidai. Infact, unlike the usual weddings, her wedding rituals were performed by a priestess. Kanyadaan and Bidai are two wedding rituals in which women are regarded as if they only belong to their in-laws' house. It is considered that a woman's real home and family is that of her husband’s. Dia Mirza showed with her wedding that women can belong to both the families and that there is no place for such old-school thinking and customs to exist anymore.
