Major Dr Rohit Bachwala (31), an Army Medical Corps officer, was waiting for his train when he saw a railway worker rushing a woman in a wheelchair. Without a second thought, he offered to help and, along with railway staff, delivered the baby right on the platform.“With no proper operation theatre, I had to use whatever I had with me,” Major Bachwala told PTI.

To clamp the umbilical cord, he used hair clip, and then cut it using a pocket knife after making sure the baby was safe. He added that the woman had collapsed near the lift area because of the intense pain, and he had to act fast.“We set up a temporary delivery area and did our best to maintain hygiene with whatever supplies were available. It felt like divine intervention that I was there at that moment,” he shared.
