  • 1 cup dalia
  • 1 finely chooped medium sized onion
  • 1 to 2 chopped green chilies
  • 1 chopped medium sized tomato
  • ½ cup chopped carrots
  • ½ cup chopped potatoes
  • 4 cups water
  • 1 tsp cumin seeds
  • 1 tbsp oil
  • Salt as per taste


Step 1
Take a pressure cooker and heat some oil in it.
Step 2
Add the cumin seeds to it and once it starts crackling, add in the onion and saute until transparent.
Step 3
Fold in the chillies and saute for a few seconds and then add the tomatoes.
Step 4
Once the tomatoes becomes a little squishy, add the potatoes and carrots.
Step 5
Keep stirring at intervals.
Step 6
Rinse the dalia and then add it to the vegetables, stirring for a few minutes on a low flame.
Step 7
Add the salt and 4 cups of water.
Step 8
Stir and pressure cook on medium flame for 8 whistles or till the dalia is cooked well.
Step 9
Let the pressure cooker calm down until safe to open and serve the dalia with a garnishing of coriander leaves.
