  • Stir together puffed rice with water in a bowl and mix it all with your hands.
  • In case using a thicker variety then keeping it for 5 more minutes to soften the puffed rice.
  • However, do not soak this for a longer time and dunk to remove excess water from the puffed rice.
  • Transfer the puffed rice to a plate and make a paste with it inside the blender.
  • In a pan take some oil pan and fry cumin, mustard seeds along with dal and peanuts. 
  • Saute for some time and then add onions, tomatoes and then cover with lid. 
  • Cook until the mixture begins to leave the sides. Then add salt as per your requirement.
  • Lower the flame and add the rice puffs and stir well. 
  • Turn off the flame and then sprinkle 2 tablespoons gram flour over the upma, also add coriander leaves and fried puffed rice for a crunchy taste, and voila!

Ingredients

  • 250g Puffed Rice
  • 1 Large Onion
  • 2 Tbsp Fried Gram
  • 2 Tbsp Lemon Juice
  • 2 Tbsp Coriander Leaves
  • Salt To Taste
  • 2-3 Tbsp Oil
  • 1/3 Tsp Mustard Seeds
  • 1/2 Tsp Cumin Seeds
  • 3 Tbsp Peanuts
  • 1 Tbsp Channa Dal

Instructions

Step 1
Add water to puffed rice in a bowl.
Step 2
Blend inside a blender to make a paste out of the puffed rice and fried gram.
Step 3
Then in a pan fry mustard seeds, cumin seeds, dals, peanuts and then add onions and tomatoes.
Step 4
Let this saute till the sides rise up. Then add salt to taste.
Step 5
Mix the rice puff paste and cook again, turn off the flame and sprinkle gram flour and coriander leaves, combine and serve!
