Pizza Sliders are the perfect snack for any craving. With savoury crumbled Italian sausage, tangy marinara, and creamy cheese, all nestled in a buttery, garlic-infused bun, these sliders are both fun and delicious. You can prepare all the ingredients in advance and simply assemble them when you're ready to bake and serve.
Ingredients For Pizza Sliders
- 1 package of 12 Hawaiian dinner rolls
- 1 1/2 cups marinara or pizza sauce
- 4 tablespoons butter
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 medium yellow onion, diced
- 3 cups mozzarella cheese
- 1/2 lb Italian sausage
- 2 teaspoons garlic salt
- 2 teaspoons garlic powder
- 2 teaspoons dried parsley
- 2 teaspoons dried oregano
Pizza Slider Recipe
- Heat olive oil in a skillet, then add the onions and sauté until softened. Next, add the crumbled Italian sausage and cook until fully browned, breaking it up into small crumbles as it cooks. Season with garlic powder, oregano, a pinch of garlic salt, and a bit of dried parsley.
- Open the package of rolls and slice the tops off the buns. I recommend cutting them into one single sheet, removing the tops, so the roll bottoms stay together as one piece. Place the roll bottoms into a 9 x 12 casserole dish and spread a generous layer of marinara or pizza sauce over the entire surface, making sure to reach all the edges.
- Sprinkle a layer of shredded mozzarella cheese over the sauce. I prefer shredding the cheese myself as it melts more smoothly. Next, add the cooked Italian sausage and spread it evenly over the bun bottoms. Spoon a bit more marinara sauce on top of the sausage, followed by another layer of cheese. Place the bun tops back on.
- Melt the 4 tablespoons of butter and brush or pour it evenly over the top of the buns. Use a pastry brush to ensure the butter gets into all the crevices and along the sides. Sprinkle the entire top with garlic salt and dried parsley.
- Cover the dish with a single sheet of foil and bake at 375°F for 30 minutes. Then, remove the foil and bake for an additional 5 minutes. Note that all ovens vary, so keep an eye on them the first time you make them. Once done, cut the buns into individual sliders and serve.
