Do you want to enjoy a dish that's equal parts comfort food, culinary art, and K-pop-inspired magic? Also known as Omelette Rice, this Korean fusion sensation, Omurice is a mouth-watering masterpiece featuring a symphony of creamy, savoury, and sweet flavours that will leave you craving for more. Here is an easy recipe inspired by Korean Chef Baek Jong Won to make it at home.
How To Make Omurice (Omelette Rice) At Home?
The dish contains two major parts, fried rice and omelet. It’s best to use day-old rice while making the fried rice but if you are opting for fresh rice, allow the moisture from the cooked rice to evaporate first. For eggs, you have to create a thin layer of omelette to wrap the fried rice. Now, start by dicing the meat of your choice, onion, carrots, and other vegetables of your choice. In a frying pan, heat some oil and stir-fry the meat for about 30 seconds. Then, add the diced vegetables and cook until soft. Add salt and pepper as per your taste, gather it aside in the pan and pour soy sauce onto the other side.
Cook for a few seconds and add ketchup, butter, and vinegar to the soy sauce mixture. Thoroughly mix the sauce ingredients together and combine it with the meat and veggies. On medium-low heat, add the boiled rice and mix everything together well. Next, beat the eggs in a bowl and pour half of it onto a heated pan lightly glazed with oil. Swirl it around evenly and once it is set but not cooked, place rice in the middle and fold the egg sides over the rice using a spatula. Let it cook and transfer onto a plate. Garnish with coriander leaves and sauces of your choice and enjoy!
