2. Put some ghee in a pan and add the ground chana dal. Mix it well to avoid any lumps.

3. Heat the ground chana dal until it starts to crumble. It will smell sweet and turn golden.

4. Add a cup of water and milk now, and thoroughly mix. Cook, stirring constantly, over medium heat for a further two to three minutes, or until the mixture thickens.

5. Mix well to avoid lumps.

6. Continue cooking in medium flame or low flame until it absorbs all water and milk and gets cooked.

7. Add sugar, cardamom powder, and saffron and stir well. The sugar will melt and mix with the chana dal.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup Chana dal
  • 1 cup Sugar
  • 1 cup Milk
  • 3/4 Ghee
  • 1 tsp Cardamom powder
  • A few strands of saffron
  • 1 tbsp chopped almonds
  • 1 tbsp chopped cashews

    Add a cup of milk and water, and thoroughly mix. Cook it over medium heat for a few minutes, or until the mixture thickens to avoid lumps

    Add the sugar to the pan and cook, stirring constantly, for 5-7 minutes, or until the sugar is dissolved and the halwa thickens.

  • Step 7 :

    Add the cardamom powder and saffron to the pan and mix well.
