Reema Maya To Take The Helm

During a recent appearance at the Cinevesture International Film Festival (CIFF) in Chandigarh, Karan Johar revealed details about ‘Student of the Year 3.’ He announced that the web series will be directed by Reema Maya, the director behind the award-winning short film ‘Nocturnal Burger.’ This highlights Johar's commitment to working with fresh talent.

Award-Winning Director For A New Vision

Maya is an established filmmaker who has garnered international recognition for her work. She's not only a writer and director but also the co-founder of the production house Catnip. Known for her independent films, Maya's short films have premiered at prestigious film festivals worldwide. Her short film ‘Counterfeit Kunkoo’ was particularly well-received at the 2018 Sundance Film Festival.

Johar emphasised that Maya will bring her own unique vision to the project. "It will be her way and definitely not mine," he said. "Because if I will enter Reema Maya's world, then I will make it more of an illusion, which is what her name means. I just wanted it to be her voice. She made it her own series."

Who Will Star In 'Student Of The Year 3'?

While the director is confirmed, there haven't been any official announcements about the cast. Earlier reports suggested that Shanaya Kapoor might be making her debut in 'Student of the Year 3'. However, her previously announced projects, 'Bedhadak' and 'Vrushabha,' seem to have been shelved.

A Look Back At The Franchise

The ‘Student of the Year’ franchise launched in 2012 with a movie starring Alia Bhatt, Sidharth Malhotra, and Varun Dhawan. All three actors made their Hindi film debuts with the project. The sequel, ‘Student of the Year 2’ (2019), followed the same format, introducing Ananya Panday and Tara Sutaria as female leads alongside Tiger Shroff. It will be interesting to see how the web series format impacts the upcoming installment.
