Materials Required To Make a Long Dress From a Saree
- Saree (any fabric, silk, cotton, rayon, polyester, and more)
- Sewing machine
- Scissor
- Chalk
- Measuring tape
- Elastic waistband

Steps To Convert a Saree Into a Long Dress
Step 1: Take a saree of any fabric, including cotton, rayon, silk, polyester, and more. You can choose any colour or print as per your choice. Remember, don’t choose a saree with heavy embroidery or gotta patti if you wish to make a western outfit. Fold the saree into four layers and place it flat on the floor. Use a measuring tape to measure a semicircle from a downward position and make a marking using chalk. Use a pair of scissors to cut through the marking, so you can see the skirt portion. Now, with an elastic waistband and with the help of a sewing machine, sew the waist section, and your skirt is ready.
Step 2: Now comes the bodice. To make the top, take a plain fabric and place it on the floor. Take a well-fitted kurta, fold it in half vertically and place it over the fabric. Use chalk to make the markings and cut the fabric with scissors. Make the neckline as per your preference. You can make a V-neckline by cutting the front of the bodice. Stick with the sewing machine, and the top portion is ready.

Step 3: Now it's time to assemble the two pieces to give it a long dress. Keep the one-inch bottom portion of the top under the skirt’s waist portion. Stitch and check for fitting. You can also add beads or other decorative materials as per your choice to enhance the look of a long dress.
You can wear this long dress on multiple occasions, including parties, functions, work, family gatherings, formal events, and more.
