Amla Rice

If you are a rice lover, give your regular recipe a twist by adding tangy amla to it. 

Ingredients Required - 

  • 3 Cups Cooked Rice
  • 1 Cup Chopped Amla 
  • 1/2 Tsp Mustard Seeds
  • Handful Of Curry Leaves
  • 1 Tsp Chana Dal
  • 1 Tsp Urad Dal
  • Oil As Required 
  • 1 Tbsp Sliced Ginger
  • 1 Tsp Red Chilli Powder
  • Pinch Of Turmeric Powder

Directions - 

  • In a blender, add chopped amla pieces. 
  • Take it out in a bowl. Sprinkle salt, turmeric, and red chilli powder. 
  • In a pan, add some oil, mustard seeds, urad dal. Fry till golden. 
  • Add curry leaves and ginger. Fry. 
  • Add amla paste to the pan and cook.
  • Add this mixture to the cooked rice and mix well. 
  • Cool the rice completely and enjoy!

Amla Fry

This recipe can be enjoyed for lunch with roti or parathas. 

Ingredients Required - 

  • 250 Gram Amla 
  • Pinch Of Asafoetida
  • Oil As Required
  • 1 Tsp Carom Seeds
  • 1/2 Tsp Turmeric Powder
  • 1 Tsp Coriander Seeds Powder
  • 1/2 Tsp Red Chilli Powder
  • Salt As Per Taste
  • 100 Gram Green Chillies

Directions - 

  • Wash amla and chop it into small pieces. 
  • In a pan, add asafoetida, cumin seeds, carom seeds. 
  • Next add turmeric powder, coriander seeds powder, and fry. 
  • Add green chilli, red chilli powder, and chopped amla. Cook for 3-5 minutes. 
  • Cover and cook for 5-10 minutes till the amla gets a little soft.
  • Amla fry is ready. 

Amla Murabba 

Healthy and delicious, amla murabba can be enjoyed anytime without guilt.

Ingredients Required - 

  • 1 Kg Amla Or Indian Gooseberry
  • 1/2 Kg Sugar
  • 1 Tsp Black Cardamom Seeds 
  • Few Strands Of Saffron
  • 10-15 Chopped Almonds

Directions -

  • In a pan, add amla and water. Cover and cook on low heat till amla turns tender. 
  • Drain the water and remove seeds from amla. 
  • In another pan, add 1/2 litre of water and sugar. Mix well and cook till the sugar dissolves completely. 
  • Add amla to the sugar syrup. 
  • Add black cardamom seeds, saffron strands, and almonds. 
  • Cook till the mixture starts to thicken. 
  • Take off flame and cool. 
  • Store in an air-tight container. 

Though amla or Indian gooseberry has many health benefits, make sure you add it to your diet only after consulting your doctor about the same to prevent any health issues.
