Step-by-Step Instructions

  • Wash the amla and ginger thoroughly. De-seed the amla and chop it into rough pieces. Peel the ginger and chop it finely.
  • Place the chopped amla, chopped ginger, and the fresh curry leaves into a blender jar.
  • Add about 1/4 cup of fresh water to the jar. Blend the ingredients until they form a smooth, fine paste. If the mixture is too thick to blend, add just a tablespoon more water.
  • Pour the paste through a fine mesh strainer or use a muslin cloth/cheesecloth over a bowl. Use the back of a spoon to press down firmly on the pulp, extracting as much liquid (the tonic shot) as possible.
  • The resulting liquid is your concentrated tonic shot. It will be slightly sour and spicy.
  • For tastiness, stir in 1 teaspoon of honey (or a pinch of black salt/rock salt) just before serving.
  • Drink the shot immediately on an empty stomach in the morning for maximum nutrient absorption.
