Season 2 of ‘The Last of Us’ wrapped up on May 26, 2025, and we can already tell how deadly part 3 is going to be. In the final episode of the post-apocalyptic series, we saw Ellie's (Bella Ramsey) fate coming to a brink. In a single episode, she nearly drowned, got lynched, killed two people (unintentionally) including a pregnant woman, and got confronted by Abby while losing Jesse in the process. As Abby charges the bullet at Ellie, the screen goes black and the viewers are flashed back to 3 days, a scene focusing solely on Abby.
The Last of Us Season 3 Predictions
This ending has dropped a lot of terrifying yet crazy cues for the third instalment of the series. Let us know what we can expect from the third part:
A Shift To Abby’s POV
The dramatic stand-off between Abby and Ellie at the end of season 2 is not the end. The last few moments of the episode show Abby waking up from a nap and walking towards the Seattle football stadium. The on-screen graphic reveals that we’re seeing Abby’s journey in Seattle, day one. This could only mean that most of season 3 will be focused on Abby’s story. At first, she was shown to viewers as a violent, brutal girl who kills Joey but now viewers will be forced into her shoes, taking on a new POV.
Joel Moments Through Flashbacks
The popularity of Pedro Pascal as Joel in the series is unmatched even after the death of his character in season 2. Pascal is likely to continue maintaining his presence in the third season through carefully crafted flashbacks particularly to illuminate Joel and Ellie’s relationship, as we saw in the previous season.

Evolved Infected Creatures
The third season will likely show more evolved types of infected creatures with upgraded visuals and prosthetic work, much like season 2 did. Fans can expect to see dangerous versions of Bloaters, lurers, or Shamblers with greater frequency.
