The highly anticipated season 2 finale of ‘The Last of Us’ has been released and it ends with an emotional punch that sets the stage for an intense season 3. Unlike season 1, which covered the full story of the first game, season 2 focuses only on the first few chapters of ‘The Last of Us’ Part 2, primarily showing Ellie’s revenge mission in Seattle.

'The Last Of Us' Season 2 Finale Recap

Ellie’s Return & Dina’s Condition

The finale of 'The Last Of Us' picks up after the flashback-heavy penultimate episode. Back at the theatre, Jesse tends to Dina’s wound, suspecting something deeper when she refuses whisky, hinting at her pregnancy. Ellie returns, battered and emotionally distant, revealing to Dina that she found Nora and forced her to give up information on Abby, who may be hiding at a place marked by a ‘whale’ and a ‘wheel.’ Ellie confesses to leaving Nora to die, reflecting on her growing comfort with violence.

A Tense Journey And Jesse’s Discovery

As they prepare to leave, Jesse confronts Ellie about Dina’s pregnancy, which she inadvertently confirms. Despite the storm and danger, Ellie continues pushing forward, even risking exposure to Seraphite violence. Meanwhile, at the WLF base, Isaac expresses concern over Abby’s disappearance, implying she was supposed to be a future leader.

Revenge at Any Cost

Ellie and Jesse search for Tommy, who’s acting as a sniper nearby. When Ellie connects the clue to the aquarium, she splits from Jesse, leading to a tragic moment when she kills Owen and the pregnant Mel after a failed interrogation. The emotional weight of this scene leaves Ellie devastated, sharing a similarly heart-wrenching moment from the game.
