‘Squid Game’ may be finished, but it looks like the deadly competitions are far from over. That’s the chilling takeaway from the final scenes of Netflix’s hugely popular South Korean thriller, which concluded its third and final season with six episodes released on June 27, 2025.
Just like the earlier seasons, these new episodes were filled with violence and a grim atmosphere, and the finale hinted at what could be a fresh start rather than a true ending. If you’ve watched the finale, you know there’s something new brewing for the ‘Squid Game’ universe. Keep reading to find out more.
Squid Game Season 3 Ending
In the final episode of Squid Game, six months after Gi-hun’s final games, the surviving characters try to move on. Jun-ho abandons his mission, but his brother brings him Jun-hee’s baby along with her massive prize money. Meanwhile, the Front Man visits Gi-hun’s daughter in Los Angeles, telling her he’s dead and handing over his belongings, including his blood-stained tracksuit and a refilled bank card. It all feels like another quiet, unresolved ending, much like Season 1, until the final moments hint at more to come.
Squid Game USA: Is Squid Game USA Happening?
In the final scene, as In-ho drives away from Ga-yeong’s house, he stops at a red light and hears a loud slapping sound coming from a grimy LA alley. Sure enough, he sees a games recruiter playing ddakji with an American man, and it’s none other than Cate Blanchett in the recruiter role, who gives In-ho a knowing glance before continuing her game.
Does this hint at a ‘Squid Game’ USA? While there’s no official confirmation yet, Netflix seems keen to expand the franchise. Imagining the deadly games set in a dystopian America is both intriguing and fitting. Fans can stay hopeful for news of a US spinoff confirmation soon.
