There’s a particular thrill in watching a revenge story unfold when justice comes not from the law but through personal resolve, pain, and grit. While blockbuster titles like John Wick and Kill Bill often grab the limelight, several underrated gems offer the same edge-of-your-seat intensity, emotional weight, and thought-provoking storytelling.

Revenge Thriller Films Available on OTT

Blue Ruin (Prime Video)

A quietly devastating take on the revenge genre, Blue Ruin follows Dwight Evans, a loner living out of his car. When he hears that the man who murdered his parents is being released from prison, Dwight returns home with one goal: revenge.

Without a solid plan or training, his journey spirals into a violent and chaotic confrontation. The film stands out for its realism and grounded storytelling.

Hard Candy (Prime Video)

In Hard Candy, 14-year-old Hayley meets Jeff (Patrick Wilson), a much older man she connected with online. But what starts as a questionable interaction soon turns into a chilling psychological battle.

After luring Jeff to his home, Hayley flips the script, torturing and interrogating him on suspicions of paedophilia. The film never leaves the house, creating a suffocating environment of suspense and power shifts. It’s a bold, disturbing thriller where the hunted becomes the hunter.

Ek Hasina Thi (YouTube)

Directed by Sriram Raghavan, Ek Hasina Thi is one of Bollywood’s strongest revenge dramas. Urmila Matondkar plays Sarika, a travel agent whose life unravels after falling for Karan Rathod (Saif Ali Khan), a slick investment banker.

Karan frames her in a crime, leading to her wrongful imprisonment. But Sarika emerges from jail transformed, bent on destroying the man who betrayed her, not just physically but emotionally and psychologically. “Lean, intense, and emotionally satisfying,” the film shows revenge as a slow, calculated game.

Table No. 21 (ZEE5)

Vivaan (Rajeev Khandelwal) and Siya (Tina Desai) are invited to an all-expenses-paid trip to Fiji, where they meet Mr. Khan (Paresh Rawal), who hosts a high-stakes reality game show. As they complete tasks, the challenges grow sinister, revealing traumatic truths from their past.

The game becomes personal, and its real purpose is revenge. With a tense narrative and a meaningful message on bullying and guilt, Table No. 21 stands out as a thriller with a conscience.

Wazir (SonyLIV)

Farhan Akhtar and Amitabh Bachchan lead this emotional thriller. Wazir tells the story of Daanish Ali, an ATS officer grappling with personal loss, and Omkar Nath Dhar, a wheelchair-bound chess master who also lost his daughter under mysterious circumstances.

As they grow closer over chess games and shared grief, a hidden agenda emerges. Wazir, the chess queen, becomes a metaphor for unseen power and strategy. With political conspiracies and shifting truths, the film explores how revenge can blur into righteousness.

These five films explore revenge from different angles, some through action, others through mind games or emotional destruction.
