On June 9th, WWE held a historic premium live event, NXT Battleground 2024. This event was particularly special because it featured the introduction of the Women's NXT North American Championship, first announced at NXT Stand & Deliver during WrestleMania XL weekend on April 6. Leading up to Battleground, General Manager Ava announced an exciting six-woman ladder match to determine the inaugural champion.

Six women, Kelani Jordan, Sol Ruca, Lash Legend, Fallon Henley, Jaida Parker, and "Michin" Mia Yim, fought against each other in a ladder match to become the first-ever NXT Women’s North American champion. The opening match of the Battleground was both exciting and historic, as Kelani Jordan won the ladder match and was crowned the first-ever women's NXT North American Champion. Alongside, it was the first time an underground match(T20 World Cup 2024 Group A: Date, Schedule, Squads, Format, Match Time, Venues) from the women’s division went down in a WWE PLE.
WWE NXT Battleground 2024 Highlights
The WWE NXT Battleground 2024 was packed with highlight-worthy moments. One standout scene saw all five participants team up to throw Lash Legend out of the ring and onto a ladder outside. The crowd was left in awe when Ruca executed her signature Sol Snatcher finisher off the ladder. The match reached its thrilling climax when Kelani Jordan delivered a split-legged moonsault onto Michin on a ladder. Seizing the opportunity, Jordan then climbed another ladder to unhook the North American title, crowning her the first-ever Women's NXT North American Champion.
