A 22-year-old woman in Maharashtra's Pune was allegedly raped on Wednesday evening, July 2, 2025, by an unidentified man who gained entry into her home by posing as a courier delivery executive. The man reportedly took a selfie with the woman and left a message on it, warning her. According to police, the accused entered the woman's home after she went inside to check her phone for an OTP. Pune Rape Case: Fake Delivery Man Rapes Women
According to preliminary investigations, the Pune attacker used the survivor’s mobile phone to take a selfie and left behind a chilling message. Some reports indicate he wrote, “I will come again,” and warned her against informing anyone about the crime. He allegedly threatened to leak her photos online if she reported the incident.
Officials also suspect that the accused might have used a substance to render the woman unconscious. “She had been unconscious since around 7:30 pm. We have involved forensic experts to determine if any chemical spray was used,” said Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone 5) Rajkumar Shinde, as quoted by PTI.
“The suspect told the victim that some bank documents had come for her in the courier. He asked her to give an acknowledgement, and that he had forgotten the pen. When the victim went inside, the suspect entered the flat and locked the door from inside and then raped her,” said Rajkumar Shinde, Deputy Commissioner of Police, as per Hindustan Times.
Investigation Underway, CCTV Footage Captures Suspect’s Face
Law enforcement teams are actively working to identify and locate the suspect. DCP Shinde confirmed that ten teams, split between the crime branch and zonal units, have been deployed for the case. A crucial breakthrough came through a CCTV camera in the vicinity, which captured a clear image of the alleged attacker. Police are now analysing the footage and the selfie found on the victim’s phone for further leads.

FIR Registered Under Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita
A case has been registered under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, including those pertaining to rape, assault on a woman, and criminal intimidation. Investigators are treating the case with utmost urgency and have appealed to the public for any additional information.
