However, there has been no clarity on if he is an additional cast in the film or he will be replacing any of the previous actors. In 2022 itself, Aaryan starred in the sequel of the Akshay Kumar starrer Bhool Bhulaiyaa and went on to make it one of the highest grossing films of the year.
Though earlier, there were a few media reports that Akshay Kumar will reprise his iconic character Raju in the sequel of Hera Pheri 3, there have been more recent reports suggesting that he is backing out of the project allegedly due to no clarity in the script. There have been rumours that he is also retrieving from the upcoming sequels of Awara Pagal Deewana, where he was to reprise his role of Guru Gulab Khatri, and Welcome where he played the character of Rajeev .
The first instalment, Hera Pheri was directed by Priyadarshan, written by Neeraj Vora, and starred Akshay Kumar, Suniel Shetty, and Paresh Rawal in the lead along with Tabu, Om Puri, and Gulshan Grover in pivotal roles, released in 2000. The film is a remake of the 1989 Malayalam film Ramji Rao Speaking, which was in tune inspired by the 1971 television film See The Man Run.
The story revolves around Raju (Kumar) and Shyam (Shetty), who live as tenants under the landlord Baburao. During a time of desperate need for money, the trio chance upon a ransom call via a cross-connection following which they hatch a plan to claim the ransom for themselves.
