Kashmiri Kahwa: Savouring The Taste Of The Valley Along With Some Delectable Nutrition

The first thing that comes to your mind after hearing Kashmir, is the world famous green tea drink, Kahwah. Kashmir is an evergreen tourist spot in India and has multiple specialities you can look into. Shawls, carpets and kahwah are three novelties we acquire from here. 



Kahwah is a hot, green tea topped with almond chunks It has numerous health benefits to it too. It is a great drink for digestion and fat burning. It reduces the risks of having a heart disease while keeping a check on metabolism. Regardless of all these benefits, kahwah is great for cold and cough. Improving the health of the skin is another on the list.

  • 1 teaspoon Kashmiri Green Tea
  • 3 cups Water
  • 10-12 strands Saffron
  •         ½ inch stick Cinnamon
  • 1 Clove
  • 1 Cardamom (Crushed)
  • ½ teaspoon Dried rose petals
  • 2 teaspoon Almonds (Silvered)
  • 1 teaspoon Honey (Optional)

How To Prepare 

⁃Kahwah is prepared in a special copper utensil called samovar. 

⁃Heat water in a pan. 

⁃Add saffron, cinnamon, cloves, dried rose petals and cardamom in water and let it boil for 3-4 minutes.

⁃Add green tea in the water. Let the tea mix for a minute.

⁃Strain the tea in 2 cups. Add a few strands of saffron. Add honey if you like your kahwah slightly sweet. 

⁃Serve hot.
