Dutt took questions from viewers, and one of them was about sexism in Bollywood. Sudipo’s question was about Bhatt turning into a producer for Darlings. The question

emphasized that producers like Rhea Kapoor and Ekta Kapoor have shared their anecdotes on coming across sexist comments in the industry. “How has Alia’s journey been so far?”

Bhatt said she had faced casual sexism in the industry that she did not even notice back in time. However, now that she has more awareness, she reflected back and said, “Oh my God! That was a totally sexist comment… I was a part of extreme misogyny at that moment.”

She added that she is more sensitive toward the topic now. “My friends say why have you become so aggressive?”

She shared in the interview the random things that bug her now. For example, “Don’t be so sensitive,” “Oh! You are being so sensitive, are you PMSing,” and “Your bra is on the bed, hide the bra.”

She said, “To hell with you. I am not being sensitive, and so what if I am PMSing.” The actor jokingly added, “You’re born because I’m PMSing.”

She confessed to coming across these random things that had annoyed her in the past. She added that people making those comments never realised what they were saying and how casually they made those remarks.

She said she recognises that layers of random things to which women in their everyday life have to succumb to or feel embarrassed about.

Pregnancy News Occupies More Space Than Work

Another question that a viewer asked of Bhatt was if she feels annoyed because the news of her pregnancy and marriage occupies more space on media platforms than her work and upcoming movies.

The actor replied positively saying that it is all a part and parcel of her being a public figure. Somehow, the focus shifts from her professional life to her personal life but fans and media wish well for her. She tries to focus on positive things rather than things that annoy her.

She added, “He is always there. He listens sometimes, he does not give me advice, and sometimes, he gives me great advice.”
